A Good Time
On
a hot August night we had most success this year. How ever it didn’t start out
that way. Before we even took the track there was some problems with the track
surface. Major ruts and holes plagued it.
My
heat race I started on the pole, we took the green lead the first half lap
entered turns 3 and 4 and the car pushed up on me bad. I was trying to figure
out what the problem was during the race but I didn’t know what it was.
I finished in 5th place and that
put me 13th on the starting grid. Back in the pits I felt something moved or was
broken in the rear suspension I thought to myself “on no, not again”. We jacked
the car up and I found the problem the new mount that I installed turned on the
rear end housing. Dad and I were able to fix it and then we discussed what set
up we were going with.
On our parade lap I quickly shook the car down and everything felt ok,
but the track was worse. I knew I had to be smart during this race to survive.
We took the green and I settled into a nice rhythm. I was just concentrating on
hitting my marks as I raced the track. It seemed to go so by so fast and it was
over. I pulled in my pit thinking I made the top 10, my parents let I finished
in 6th place. I was glad with my decision not to overdrive the car
and ended up in a better finishing position than I thought.
Its
seems the bug are gone and that monkey went somewhere else. It feels great to
running good again.
Thank you, to all my sponsors and fans that
supported us so far. I am looking forward to building on this finish.
Thank You,
Jon
